Shipbuilding Steel Sheets and Plates are composed of Carbon (C) 0.18% max, Manganese (Mn) 0.90–1.60%, Silicon (Si) 0.50% max, Phosphorus (P) 0.035% max, Sulfur (S) 0.035% max, and the balance Iron (Fe). This combination provides excellent weldability, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Mechanically, these steels have a tensile strength of 400–520 MPa, yield strength of 235 MPa minimum, and elongation of around 22%. Their balanced strength and ductility make them ideal for structures exposed to dynamic marine environments and heavy mechanical loads.
